Through wisdom a house is built,
and by understanding it is established.

The Wisdom Blueprint

How To Plan Your Profitable Dental Website

Just as a house is built for a specific purpose, a successful dental website must also have a clear, quantifiable objective. Further, a house is also made up of various components such as:

  • a foundation;
  • walls;
  • a roof;
  • interior rooms;
  • furnishings…

…and in precisely the same way, a profitable dental website must have these 3 absolutely critical elements:

  1. a product or service which people want;
  2. targeted traffic;
  3. persuasive website copy that converts the traffic into paying customers.

Yes, there are other valuable components — which will help enhance your website’s profits — but these three are BY FAR the most important ones.

And when you create a blueprint for building a house, there are many factors you’ll probably consider:

  • where the house is being built;
  • your living needs;
  • your lifestyle preferences;
  • your decorating choices;
  • who will build the house;
  • your budget;
  • security considerations;
  • etc.

Similarly, it’s wise and prudent to create such a blueprint for your dental website, before you begin any work on it.

For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost,
whether he has enough to finish it –
lest, after he has laid the foundation,
and is not able to finish,
all who see it begin to mock him,
saying, “This man began to build
and was not able to finish.”
Luke 14:28-30

Clearly, just as with building a house, you will need to take ACTION. A house cannot build itself; neither can a dental website.

Remember, a truly successful online business MUST have these 3 things:

  1. a product or service which people want;
  2. targetted traffic;
  3. persuasive website copy…

It truly is that simple.

If you have those three things — performed competently — you’ll build a successful and profitable Internet business.

Let’s briefly look at each one of these components…

A Product or Service Which People WANT

Chances are, as a dentist you already offer this.

Nonetheless, you need to recognize that your prospects aren’t looking for just any dentist. They want a dentist who makes them feel comfortable… who will minimize any anxiety they might have about seeing a dentist… a dentist who won’t “mess up”…

The better you understand precisely what your dental prospects WANT, the easier it will be to sell them EXACTLY what they want. As a result, you’ll sell more, and you’ll also be able to charge more. It’s so obvious — yet so few businesses actually DO that.

Persuasive Dental Website Copy

No question, people online are highly skeptical… and thus they’re also unlikely to just make an appointment, unless your dental website can convince them that they have finally found the right dentist.

The point is that copywriting is what conveys the message about your product. It is simply some words. Sure, you can also use pictures and videos, if used intelligently… but it is generally the words that actually do the selling.

Never forget that your website’s primary purpose is to communicate. That’s because if you can’t effectively and persuasively communicate your service’s benefits to your prospects, it won’t generate any dental patients for you.

The more compelling and persuasive your words are, the more likely your prospects will be to call your office for that initial appointment.

Targetted Traffic

Once you have a dental website with copy that communicates your message effectively, you need to get people to see it. We call that “traffic”.

Without traffic, the best website, with the best product or service, and the best sales copy… would accomplish nothing.

There are dozens and dozens of ways to generate traffic online. Some are effective and profitable, and some are are a complete waste of time. Some are free (at least in terms of money), and some cost money. All of them require some time (at least to set up initially).

The beauty (and power!) of the Internet is that with many traffic sources, you only need to set them up ONCE, and they’ll keep generating traffic to your site for a long time.

And why do you need “targetted” traffic for your dental website?

Because if your website visitors aren’t specifically interested in what you are offering, they won’t even click through to your website… much less purchase anything from you.

According to recent research, the average person is daily bombarded by over 16,000 different forms of advertisements. (“Is the American Dream Killing You? How ‘the Market’ Rules Our Lives” by Paul Stiles; HarperCollins, 2005.)

Unless prospects are specifically looking for what you’re offering, they’ve become conditioned to completely IGNORE any and all marketing messages — including YOURS.

What you need are visitors who already WANT what you offer.

That way, they’ll also be much more likely to WANT to read your “sales” message…
